Fun Hair with Natulique Organic Colour

Posted on 23 October, 2017 at 16:55 Comments comments (0)

Organic hair colour doesn't have to be boring!

Yes, we can do pastels, and ash, and copper and brunette and red and purple just like any other colour house BUT without the harmful chemicals.

We often get asked, "well does it work?" or "but my colour is permemant!" or "can you get the same colour as I have?" The answers to all of those, is yes we can colour match, yes all colour houses are differening in depth and tone, yes it comes in semi-permament, demi-permament and permament.

We can be as creative as you dare to be. :)

Just look at some of these colours and you will see.

Hints for a Firm Face!

Hints for a firm face

1. Don't rest your face against your hand. The lines that develop will become permanent.

2. Don't slouch. Sit up straight. Good posture is very important for keeping a youthful neck

3. Don't continuously chew your food on the same side of your mouth. Visit your dentist to correct tooth problems. Chewing on one side develops the muscles on that side.

4. Don't wrinkle your nose when you smile or laugh.

5. Don't squint when you laugh or smile. Squinting causes lines to form around the eyes

6. Don't look into bright sunlight without a good pair of sunglasses. Squinting from bright sunlight causes a network of lines around your eyes.

7. Don't use more than one pillow at night. During the night your face presses down deep into a thick pillow. When you wake in the morning the skin has been pressed and folded; it takes an hour or so for these wrinkles to fade away but after a few years the lines can become more permanent

8. Don't use facial tissues to remove make-up. Tissues contain wood pulp which can irritate the skin.

9. Don't lose more than two pounds per week on your diet. A drastic weight loss can lead to a loss of muscle tone.

10. DO drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

11. Do spray your skin with mineral water before applying any cream or make-up and spray several times during the day.

12. Do eat good nutritious foods. Be sure to include fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet.

13. Do get at least seven hours sleep each night.

14. Do exercise your body as well as your facial muscles every day.

15. Do keep a positive and happy outlook on life.

16. Do clean your skin carefully; rid the surface of dead cells, stale creams and make-up.

17. Do protect your skin from sudden changes in temperature.

Why does hair go frizzy?

Posted on 19 October, 2016 at 18:30 Comments comments (0)

Why does hair go frizzy?

Hair is made up of lipid oils & fats, protein & water . When hair is dry due to chemical, environmental or heat damage (curly or wavy hair especially) it will absorb as much moisture as it can from the air, as if it was thirsty. So the more moisture in the air 'humidity' the more likely your hair is to absorb moisture and turn your hair back into it natural state before you blow-dried it.

Tips to help keep hair smooth and sleek whilst out and about;

So let's start right at the beginning with washing your hair.

Shampoo & conditioner:

Make sure your shampoo and conditioner is sulphate free and packed full of Glycerin! (Read the ingredients on the bottle, remember the further up the list the more concentrated the ingredient is) always condition and be sure to do a moisture balancing conditioning treatment about once a week, you can always come into our salon to have this done for you to ensure the right masque is applied (it's also a nice treat with an included scalp massage and comfy massage chairs at our basin.)

Top tip!

Every other time you wash your hair forget the shampoo, just condition! Don't worry! Conditioner also includes a little bit of the detergent agent used in shampoo so will also clean your hair slightly so this won't affect the cleanliness of your hair it will just help aid your natural oils to work their magic rather than scrubbing them away which will dry your hair out.

Drying and styling your hair:

After washing gently towel dry your hair.

Always leave your hair to air dry naturally to at least 80% before applying heat, this will reduce the amount of damaged caused by heat even by a little bit (every little helps ) apply a heat protection product. (it is important that you avoid products containing ALCOHOL this will dry your hair out) personally I recommend 'Natulique' 'nourishing hair cream' (contains argon oil, natural silk protein & vitamin b5) this product will also smooth the mid lengths and ends! This product basically acts as a two in one combination as it protects the hair from heat also keeping the hair smooth and nourished thanks to the amazing argon oil.

To finish I recommend ' intelligent nutrients' ' hair shine' this is an oil based product that works brilliantly by one Spritz onto the palm of your hand and smoothed through the ends to avoid fly aways. To ensure minimal frizz from the root down I would recommend 'Natulique' 'medium hold wax' with this product less really is more! A tiny amount rubbed through your fingers and gently pulled through your hair starting at the root. This will protect your freshly blow dried hair from the harshness of the environment, keeping it controlled and frizz free! Woohoo!

A medium hold hair spray will also help, just a fine mist in the air over your head will do, don't go nuts if you still want some movement in your style.

Last but not least never comb or brush your hair whilst dry, this will reverse all of the support gained from the styling products. Gently running your fingers through your hair should be enough to keep your hair looking tidy.

Here are the products I have mentioned for you to see.

Pssst??? So You Want to Know the Number One Secret to Healthy Hair?

Posted on 9 October, 2016 at 19:55 Comments comments (0)

Pssst… So You Want to Know the Number One Secret to Healthy Hair?

Well everybody does! There’s so much advice flying around on the internet that it’s difficult to know exactly what you can do to get a gorgeous head of healthy looking hair. Even hair stylists can’t agree! Should you wash your hair every day to keep it clean or leave it for a couple of days to stop it drying out?

How often should you change your hair care products? Or do you even change them at all? Some hairdressers suggest finding a brand that works and sticking with it whilst others urge you to change your shampoo on a regular basis.

It’s a bit of a minefield to be honest! With so much contradictory information, it’s difficult to know what advice you should follow for healthy locks. So we thought we’d give you a helping hand by letting you in on the number one secret to healthy hair. But before we hand over that particularly precious nugget, let’s whet your appetite with a few of the things that you SHOULD be doing already (but most people aren’t)!

Keep heat styling to a minimum – Okay, so you love your curling tongs and your straighteners and we understand why! But to put it bluntly, all of that heat is not doing your hair much good. If you don’t NEED to straighten or curl your hair on a particular day, then don’t!

Protein helps – This one’s a bit weird, but trust us – protein works. In the same way as gym buffs down a shake after a workout to give their muscles fuel, protein hair treatments can help rebuild and strengthen your hair, leaving it stronger and better looking as a result

Eat the right foods – What we’ve all known for a while is true: you are what you eat. Your hair is basically made of protein, so if you don’t eat protein in your diet, your hair won’t be too healthy. Combine protein with some cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage to keep your hair healthy and strong. Doing those three things will definitely help your hair to stay strong and healthy, but no doubt you’re waiting for the number one secret (we don’t blame you).

So here goes:

You need to trim your hair on a regular basis!

Seriously, this is THE best way to get healthy hair. You can try all the hair care products you want but the longer you leave your hair between cuts, the unhealthier your hair will look.

It’s all to do with those pesky split ends! They weaken your hair by splitting the strand of hair in two and make your hair look limp. By cutting them off sooner rather than later you reduce the risk of multiple splits occurring. Plus the ends of your hair are ancient so they’re not going to look very healthy if you don’t get them trimmed regularly!

So there you have it! We believe that this is the number one secret to healthy hair. If you’re going to stick to one piece of advice, follow that one and you’ll have healthier hair in no time! There are a couple of other things that our stylists swear will make your hair even healthier so why not pop in for a chat or call us on (01872 274 452) to find out?

No 1 Hair Extensions Cornwall

Posted on 1 June, 2015 at 16:20 Comments comments (0)

I am pleased to announce that I am now offering the latest techniques in hair extensions with no damage to the natural hair and scalp. Its taken this long for me to do them, becuase I didn't agree with the heat methods due to the damage they can cause to the hair. But, now these great methods of applying extensions have evolved, I'm now in agreement with them and can now offer them to you.

Like you, I would want only the best human remy hair and this is why I am offering only 2 grades of hair; Superior hair and Premium hair.

Superior hair is top of the range human remy hair, that is cuticle correct, double drawn or single drawn and tangle free, it will last up to 1 year with the proper care and maintence.

Premium hair will last up to 6 months with the correct care and is great quality at a fantastic price.

I offer the latest Ultrasonic Cold Fusion method that few salons offer, and is so gentle on the hair that it can be used on anyone with alopecia, thinning hair, and those growing their hair back after cancer treatment.  This fusion technique uses ultrasonic waves to breakdown the keratin polymers and then directly attach to the hair to create a natural safe attachement that is virtually un-noticeable. The keratin tips are the same colour as the hair and lay very flat which makes them feel more natural and more like your own hair.  Extensions for thinning hair require a very gentle methods of attaching hair extensions without further damage to the hair, so the cold fusion method is safe for adding volume to thin hair.  This method is not cheap, and you can't skimp on less than 100% human hair for this method, but the extensions will last from 3-6 months in the hair before they need to be removed depending on the speed of hair growth and the correct maintenance.

I am the only authorised LA Weave technician in Cornwall. This is a great new method for applying a weave to the hair in around 45 minutes, with a 15 minute removal time. Gone are the days of sitting in the seat for 6 hours or more.

Benefits of the LA Weave

• 45 Minute Application

• 15 Minute Removal

• No Bonds

• No Glue

• No Heat

• No Plaits

• No Cornrows

• 8-10 Weeks Wear

• 100% Re-usable

Our hair is only available to qualified LA Weave technicians.

LA Weave boasts 28 different colours and 6 ombre colours. The hair is hand picked and ethically sourced from Russia and Mongolia, the processing of the hair is very gentle keeping the cuticles aligned, preventing and tangles or matting. Each hair weft is double drawn remy human hair and will last up to 9 months with the correct aftercare and product use.

Our ethically sourced luxury human hair is:

• 100% Remy Human Hair

• 50g to 200g per weft

• Double Wefted

• Double Drawn

• Re-usable

• Boxed

Nano Rings Extensions - These are proven to be the most descreet method on the market today. They are proving very popular with clients as they are the quickest out of all the ring application methods. If you are concerned about damage to your hair, these will be good for you. They are applied using a very tiny ring, that is 90% smaller than a micro ring, and then clamped shut, gently gripping the hair. This method is not suited to very greasy hair. Aftercare is very important with this method to avoid damage to the bonds and aluminium ring.

Where the hair comes from and what this means to you.

Brazillian Hair - These are hard wearing and will withstand heat and water more than any other hair type. This hair comes straight, wavy, deep waves and spiral.

Indian Hair - This hair is thick in texture yet light, so it's great for a full head to create volume and length but still looking natural. This hair type will go wavy after a few washes which people love about it. You can easily straighten it or curl it with irons or tongs.

Malaysian, Russian/European, Mongolian Hair - This hair is very much like our own hair as it is of a similar texture which is why we love it so much.  It's a good choice if you have fine hair. Unlike Malaysian and Mongolian hair, it will wave when washed a few times. If you are looking for hair that is poker straight, then you are looking at the Mongolian and Malasian hair type.

The best hair for thick, luscious volume is the Indian and Brazillian hair, for natural volume to complement your own hair you will should opt for the Russian/European, Mongolian, Malaysian hair.
